Healthcare

Healthcare in the United States and UK!

Healthcare has evolved throughout the years. The factors that have made health care change are the costs of health insurance, research on the advancement of medicine and diseases, and technology. Healthcare since then has become a pressing issue across the United States. Not everyone is eligible for healthcare, and that what makes it hard for others to have access to a doctor because they are worried that without healthcare, they would have to pay. Healthcare in the U.S. is not as free as people believe that it’s. The government doesn’t provide healthcare for every individual that live within the United States. The reason for that is because there are expenses that the department of health needs to cover, for example, wages, medicine, and equipment. If it was free, then who would be paying the doctors and the bills for every visit at the hospital. In order to gain healthcare, you need to buy a premium that would cover up your expenses from paying out of pocket. It seems very difficult for the people that low income to pay for these premiums because of their income, so therefore healthcare is hardly provided for them. There is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that protect American workers by allowing them to carry healthcare insurance policies from job to job.
Over the past years, there been debates on whether healthcare should be free for low-income families. According to the article “Listening to Low-Income Patients: Obstacles to the Care We Need, When We Need it” it said, “Low-income patients say their worries about affordability are exacerbated by not knowing the cost of services in advance.” (Lewis) Low-income residents aren’t told what they would be paying at end of the day. Unlike the United States, where healthcare is expensive to afford The United Kingdom offer free healthcare to it residents through payroll taxes. There aren’t any restricted laws about healthcare in the U.K. because the government is paying for it within the charges of the people. Some may disagree with the U.K. that why healthcare is being provided to everyone for free, while in the United States, they struggle to provide healthcare.
Every country is different in its way of giving aid for its residents and how things are genuinely run. According to the article, “I’ve lived the difference between Us and U.K. health care.” Talk about a reporter who had surgery in the U.K. while fallen to the ground and shattering her arm bone. It said, “Both surgery and rehab were free at the point of use, and the only paper I completed was my pre-operative release forms.” (Beers)While at the U.K., her medical bills were free and were not charged to see a doctor or nothing. The U.K. has universal healthcare, which means that healthcare is provided to you no matter what the circumstances are.
